about

One of several of my odes to the planet :)
I am writing a concept collection/musical, this will be the first and featured song.

lyrics

The fountain was a gift of the wilderness
And its creature children
From it we took all that we needed
No limits were placed and what we could not take
We created from its wisdom

The children of another time
They were not so blind
They gave thanks to her for all of her gifts
And cherished their lives because they lived in her midst
And they knew the earth was living
Breathing, thinking, living

You talk of God what do you think you're walking on?
You want to cherish/worship/treasure something
Why not this world your life depends upon
This beautiful world we share with all of creation

Such a disappointing end it would be
To poison the oceans, take the life of the fish
Who sit on our tables and stare at our fists
As we tear the flesh from their bones
Just as our junk strips the life from their home

Don't tell me that's not happening, I have got eyes
And every hour machines bight harder
Though we got stronger we got no smarter
How long will it be before we empty the treasures from the chest?
It's not a question of what is gone
But a question of what is left

You talk of God what do you think you're walking on?
You want to cherish/worship/treasure something
Why not this world your life depends upon
This beautiful world we share with all of creation
